It’s also lucky number seven album for the former Australian Idol star who, since he came out, has forged a winning career curating his way carefully through covers and tributes (like his George Michael album). Now he’s collaborated with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra to give his big voice the big band treatment on 12 big hits for other people. It’s a brave singer indeed who tackles Adele’s Someone Like You, managing to put their own stamp on it, yet Ant achieves what he set out to do. While some of the choices are awfully calculated and mumsy (Richard Marx’s Right Here Waiting and Bryan Adams’ Everything I Do I Do It For You), that’s unlikely to stop this album going to #1 itself.
