BEYONCE & JAY-Z – EVERYTHING IS LOVE

DNA Magazine - - MUSIC REVIEWS -

While most of the world is busily protesting Trump, Brexit, sexism, poverty etc, Queen Bey and hubby have set their sights higher, turning their collective wrath on the art world. They do have a point. The Louvre, where they filmed their Apeshit video, is an exceedingly white domain. Other timely topics they tackle across 10 tracks include fame (Friends), outdoor sex (Summer) and African-American history (Black Effect). If this was an album by unknowns it might garner acclaim as a cool, underground attempt at subversion. Coming from two of the biggest names in the business it screams vanity project, especially considering how relentlessly strident it is. Bring back Crazy In Love, Mrs Carter!
