Same-sex marriage will become legal in Austria on January 1, 2019. The timing couldn’t be better, with Vienna hosting EuroPride in

2019. Vienna promises of a lively and diverse scene in a safe and tolerant city that doesn’t have many gay-only venues but boasts an abundance of gay friendly and mixed venues. Highlights on the LGBTIQ calendar include the spectacular Life Ball (HIV/AIDS charity event in May) and the Wien Ist Andersrum (Vienna Is Queer) cultural festival in early June, which offers offbeat cultural performances with G and L sensibilities.
