Before the chart-topping songstress makes her big-screen debut in the upcoming animation Sing, we chatted to her to get all the goss from the cutest flick of the year.

HAVE YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO GET INTO FILM?

There’s something about animated films that has always intrigued me, especially whenever they would involve music. I just remember watching old Disney Princess movies and really wanting to be the voice of one of those characters.

WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE ROLE OF MEENA THE ELEPHANT?

I could relate to Meena a lot! She’s a really shy, timid girl who loves to sing but doesn’t know how to overcome her fear of getting on stage. When I was younger I was definitely shy; I knew I really wanted to sing but there was something just really scary about it. I had to learn how to get over that fear – once I started singing it would all be OK.

ARE YOU AN ANIMAL LOVER?

I am, yeah! I think animals make the world cuter, I can’t picture a world without them. I have two dogs that I love so much – a chihuahua called Ricco and a boxer pitbull called Roxy.

WHAT’S YOUR SPIRIT ANIMAL?

My spirit animal will forever be an elephant – I’m obsessed with them now!
