Af­ter a very busy few months at the end of last year, I feel so happy to have had a quiet and restora­tive cou­ple of weeks at home over the sum­mer break. Now I’m re­freshed and ready to jump into the new year. The key for me is a daily rou­tine I know I can sus­tain, be­gin­ning with my early morn­ing run and green smoothie, healthy snacks and a light lunch dur­ing the day. Then, my favourite way to fin­ish the day is with a lean and de­li­cious din­ner with my boys. Hav­ing these habits in place (with the oc­ca­sional sneaky treat, of course!) means that when life has other plans – like din­ners out and trips away – it’s easy for me to get back on track the next day. This new is­sue of Fresh + Light is full of amaz­ing recipes that means eat­ing well is eas­ier than ever. It’s full of flavour some ideas that have al­ready be­come my ev­ery­day favourites. I’m lov­ing our week­night meals, which take ad­van­tage of all the out­stand­ing sum­mer pro­duce avail­able right now – start­ing with fresh, crisp rain­bow sal­ads (page 70). If you’re a fan of clas­sic fish cakes, check out our up­dated ver­sions on page 80. Each one uses fresh fil­lets and nour­ish­ing ad­di­tions to cre­ate tasty crowd-pleas­ing din­ners. And these hot days call for frosty treats, so we’ve taken over-the-top ice-cream sun­daes (page 126) and sweet gran­i­tas (page 138), and made them bet­ter for you, but still com­pletely lus­cious. Here’s to a won­der­ful sum­mer and year ahead – en­joy!
