A bit of DIY
Even from when I was little, my Dad always taught me the value of being an independent, capable woman (he wouldn’t let me learn to drive a car until I could competently change a tyre and top up the oil!). And, although I love to try my hand at new things (my years of styling in the studio have taught me the benefits of that), I think I may be a bit of a disappointment to strong females everywhere when it comes to my home improvement skills. For me, something as simple as replacing a light bulb means I am likely to ruin the entire light fixture, usually resulting in a panicked call to a professional who will come to my rescue. Add the fact that tradie-style overalls are very unflattering on me, and I think it’s time to admit that home DIY is not my calling! I’m currently in the midst of renovations and I’ve wisely decided to put my tools down and leave it to the experts. I’ll stick to the studio, for now – creating beautiful backgrounds and dyeing fabrics to use in shoots is so much more my thing!
