Volvo has developed a new G-series line of articulated haulers, and the big trucks will be available in Australia through local distributor CJD Equipment.

The five G-series models – the A25G, A30G, A35G, A40G and the A45G (pictured) are heavyduty articulated haul trucks designed for use in off-road operations such as quarries, mines and large construction projects.

The G-series trucks are powered by Volvo Tier 2 diesel engines ranging in power from the A25G’s 234kW engine to the 347kW in the A45G. Volvo says the G-series engines provide significant improvements in fuel economy through automated predictive gear selection that adjusts to operating conditions.

Fuel efficiency is also increased by the G-series on-board weighing system, which guarantees the operator has the optimal load every cycle. This also maximises productivity and reduces machine wear.

The off-road haulers use a number of features to access hard-to-reach areas on the jobsite.

These include automatic traction control, 100 per cent differential locks, all-terrain bogie and hydro-mechanical steering help the trucks tackle steep gradients.

The trucks can handle going downhill as well, with retarders and Volvo’s ‘Dynamic Engine

Brake’ keeping the machines stable.

The ROPS/FOPS operator’s cab on the G-series has a centrally positioned air-suspension seat with a secondary instructor seat located behind it. Large tinted safety glass windows provide a wide field of view for the operator. The cab is fully heated/air-conditioned, has an AM/FM radio, and has plenty of storage space.

Volvo says it has streamlined maintenance on the G-series trucks.

The truck’s front grill can be opened and lowered, turning the grill into a service platform with anti-slip steps. The engine hood also opens electronically to 90 degrees, giving full and safe access to the engine bay.
