Faster, more versatile and intuitive laser levelling and machine control systems from Topcon and Position Partners

Awhopping 95 percent or more of new motor graders sold in Australia now come complete with some form of factory-fitted machine control.

This demonstrates how widely accepted and indemand the technology has become, with most of the major projects in this country requiring machine control across a broad spectrum of earthwork tasks.

We are now seeing a huge increase in the amount of dozers and excavators that are starting to be fitted with basic machine control from the factory, again demonstrating a wider acceptance of the benefits of machine control throughout the earthmoving process.

If you’re not in the market for a new machine and want to add the technology to what you already own, Topcon Positioning Group, via its exclusive Australian distributor Position Partners, has a wide range of precision laser levelling and machine control solutions for every make and model of machine, for every application and for every budget.

LASER LEVELLING

From the Topcon RL-H4C construction laser, which is still the country’s No.1 seller, to high-accuracy grade and pipe lasers, machinemounted laser receivers can be added to any machine for a handy visual guide that helps the operator grade faster and more accurately.

2D MACHINE CONTROL

The next step up in the range is 2D machine control technology, which involves the use of sonic tracking or laser-guided technology to get to grade with the option of either manual or automatic operation.

Unlike many systems on the market, Topcon components can be upgraded or swapped for other technology to suit the application. Position Partners also offers rental agreements across the range so that customers can hire individual components or a full system to suit the project they’re working on.

3D TECHNOLOGY

Lastly, for more complex jobs that involve multiple machines working to the same design, Topcon 3D technology uses a combination of

GPS, total station and laser levelling solutions to give operators maximum visibility and control over their work.

Recent additions to much of the range are Topcon’s GX-55 or larger GX-75 control box.

“Contractors have always loved Topcon’s easy-to-read, intuitive control box and the new GX-55 and GX-75 are even better with three bright LED light bars that give a quick, visual grade reference,” Position Partners machine systems product manager Joel Seddon says.

“The control boxes also have a brighter screen that is fully visible in direct sunlight, audible grade sounds that can be customised and four large buttons designed to make navigating the system easy for operator hands, not office hands,” he adds.

“For many years, Topcon has set the standard for laser levels and machine control — and the company continues to raise the bar with faster, more versatile and intuitive technology,” Seddon adds.

“Combined with Position Partners’ exceptional back up service and support, including Tokara telematics, contractors can be confident in a solution that will go the distance for them on every job.”
