Atlas Copco brings out the easily-towed Series-8 portable compressors
There are 10 models in the new Atlas Copco Series 8 range of transportable diesel compressors, all of which are less than 750kg and require no special driving licence to tow.
“For the first time, it’s possible to transport a compressor that can produce up to 5 m3/min of air, with a full-size fuel tank, aftercooler and generator – all towed behind a normal passenger car, with no special driving licence required,” Redstar Equipment sales manager David Buttigieg says. “This is all made possible by Atlas Copco producing a compressor which is up to 150kg lighter than comparable models.
“They’ve also reduced service time and fuel consumption, and increased utilisation.”
The Series 8 compressors features the latest, toughest HardHat canopy design, which Buttigieg says makes them perfect for harsh conditions in the great Australian outdoors.
The 10 models in the initial line-up range from the XAS 38 Kd, which has a free air delivery of 2m3/min, to the XAS 88 Kd, with an air delivery of 5m3/min. Two models in the range come with built-in generators.
They are said to be 12 per cent more fuel efficient and have a 15 per cent smaller footprint than comparable models.
The Kubota-driven compressors have a range of standard features, including: starter motor protection; three-layer anti-corrosion (c3) paint system; anti-air lock system; spillage-free frame; battery cut-off switch; and encased wire routings.
“The launch of the revolutionary 8 Series is the result of more than 10 years of continuous development,” Atlas Copco Portable Energy Division marketing VP Ben Van Hove says.
“Throughout the design and engineering process, we have focused on advances that provide tangible benefits to our customers, without compromising a single aspect of design or performance. As a result, the 8 Series is versatile, efficient and a valuable ally in maximising uptime on site.”
