Event a sweet success

Eastern Reporter - - Front Page - Town of Bassendean mayor John Gangell with Angela Valenari and Monique Fitzgerald.

MORE than 60 people graced Angela Valenari’s Bassendean home garden on Saturday to help raise more than $2000 for Cancer Council WA.

Ms Valenari along with daughter and granddaughter Nella and Monique Fitzgerald were up until the early hours of Saturday morning preparing a range of homemade treats for their biggest morning tea fundraiser.

The long table of cakes, scones, biscuits, pavlova, fruit and sandwiches stretched as long as the driveway and the perfectly manicured garden was brightly decorated for the occa- sion. Nella said she was overwhelmed by the community support. “I am beside myself with happiness, everyone was so generous,” she said.

“Our suggested donation was $20 but some people donated $40 or $50.

“We organised this in about three-and-ahalf weeks so we are so happy with this outcome.” Nella said she planned for the family to host an annual biggest morning tea which grew each year.
