Eastern Reporter - - Street Watch - A mural by local artist Steve Buckle.

WORK to improve the streetscape, amenity and functionality of the pedestrian and café strip is starting on Progress Street in Morley.

As part of the upgrade, shade canopy trees will be planted, verge paving will be repaired and cleaned and retrofitted planter seaters installed.

The makeover will feature a colourful mural by local artist Steve Buckle on the Aussie Home Loan wall at the pocket park completed last week.

Mayor Sylvan Albert says the upgrade answered community and business needs.

“A survey of business owners in the Morley Business District provided a snapshot of needs and challenges. One of the recommendations was increasing the amenity of the area to make Morley even more competitive to other areas,” he said.
