Women in the Sporting Frame
I'm a big advocate for sporting clubs in our area and recently we've seen new women's sports teams being formed in soccer, rugby and football leagues in the City. It's important that women feel included in sports they want to play.
The City's investment in community sports is significant. We are currently upgrading some of our sporting facilities in the City including the Noranda Athletics track which recently received $66,000 of Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities funding from the Department of Sport and Recreation and was endorsed by the City in this year's budget.
The funding will go towards upgrading the floodlighting around the athletics track to allow athletics, soccer and community users to better utilise the track for training.
Additional capital items include improvements to the running track and current athletics track which are planned for the next financial year.
Sport is an important part of the City of Bayswater and our active 'Garden City' lifestyle and it is imperative that we keep our sporting facilities as up to date as possible so they can be fully enjoyed by the community.
