AFTER reading of the planned review of the current Local Planning Strategy for future development in the Town of Bassendean, I fail to understand why council is again reviewing something that was finalised in 2014.

It would appear to me that the Town is quick to review, quick to appoint expensive consultants but slow to act to achieve a conclusion.

Take Precinct One Eden Hill West with a residential design code of 17.5 that should have been upcoded to R25 within two years of the strategy being finalised in 2014.

Well it’s 2017 and we are still waiting and I won’t hold my breath.

Equally concerning is that the Town has as yet not completed Town Planning Scheme 4A, the scheme that predates the current Town Planning Scheme 10.

The inability of council to conclude this scheme means that it has now amassed a $2 million debt that ratepayers will need to pay for.

With such a poor report card I fear progress will continue to be erratic and expensive for the ratepayers of this Town.
