I WORKED at Community Newspaper Group as a work experience student last week. This was a very different experience for me as I am used to mechanics and farming. Working at this office was really interesting and I was lucky enough to meet a lot of great people. I got to try lots of new things in my week here, such as photographing Sandover medal winner Haiden Schloithe, covering events such as the City of Vincent Local History Photographic Awards and writing an article about The Big Camp Out. I attended a Development Assessment Panel meeting and listened in on an interview with a Bayswater resident who was against a proposed development in their area. Being a journalist is different to what I expected... it can be busy one minute and calm the next, depending on what is happening in the community. Completing work experience here has helped me determine what I could possibly do as a future career, which will most likely be in media.
