Work starts on new club
DEMOLITION works have begun at Bayswater Tennis Club’s 80-year-old clubrooms after Bayswater Council approved a tender for the club’s $1.4 million redevelopment project this month.
At the September 12 council meeting, the council awarded contractors Solution4 Building Pty Ltd for the documentation and construction of the new clubrooms.
The council also voted to consider an allocation of $134,710 during the first budget review in the 2017-18 financial year for any unforeseen works, variables or expenditure that might occur during construction.
The project was funded by the City of Bayswater ($550,000), Federal Government ($750,000) and the club ($50,000).
Bayswater Tennis Club president Dan Kerrigan said the new clubrooms would feature a lift, players’ lounge, a bar, commercial kitchen, toilets and showers downstairs, and a 130-seat function room upstairs.
