Work starts on new club

DE­MO­LI­TION works have be­gun at Bayswa­ter Ten­nis Club’s 80-year-old clu­b­rooms af­ter Bayswa­ter Coun­cil ap­proved a ten­der for the club’s $1.4 mil­lion re­de­vel­op­ment pro­ject this month.

At the Septem­ber 12 coun­cil meet­ing, the coun­cil awarded con­trac­tors So­lu­tion4 Build­ing Pty Ltd for the doc­u­men­ta­tion and con­struc­tion of the new clu­b­rooms.

The coun­cil also voted to con­sider an al­lo­ca­tion of $134,710 dur­ing the first bud­get re­view in the 2017-18 fi­nan­cial year for any un­fore­seen works, vari­ables or ex­pen­di­ture that might oc­cur dur­ing con­struc­tion.

The pro­ject was funded by the City of Bayswa­ter ($550,000), Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment ($750,000) and the club ($50,000).

Bayswa­ter Ten­nis Club pres­i­dent Dan Ker­ri­gan said the new clu­b­rooms would fea­ture a lift, players’ lounge, a bar, com­mer­cial kitchen, toi­lets and show­ers down­stairs, and a 130-seat func­tion room up­stairs.
