THE Morley Lions Club is aiming to provide people with disabilities easier access to functions and community events with the help of a donated electronic wheelchair.

Out and About Healthcare has donated an electronic wheelchair worth about $6000 to the club.

It is its first donation in WA after 11 years of support given to charities across Australia.

President Les Truman said this was the first time the 20-member club offered an electronic wheelchair to people with disabilities.

The club had contacted the City of Bayswater and medical centres for support.

“What we intend to do is more of a short-term loan rather than someone having it for a couple of years, such as someone who is terminal or only need it for three months,” he said.

“This is more just for community.”
