BLAKE HOOKED ON TV DATING GAME
HAVING never watched an episode of The Bachelorette, Subiaco entrepreneur Blake Colman did some light research and thought he would be hanging with “a bunch of douches”.
What the perennial stirrer walked away with was lifelong friendships (except two) and an experience he said he would do all over again in a heartbeat.
The cheeky 29-year-old who wooed Sophie Monk with a box filled with gifts and his buff bod in nothing but a fig leaf on a group date, had the time of his life.
“I never watched the show before in my life and I saw a bunch of dudes and thought I was going to walk into a bunch of douches so I went in there all guns blazing,” he said.
“It’s funny because all the boys got along so well and we were all backing each other.
“I came out a different person and it was so good meeting Sophie; we will have a bright future.”
“Sorting out stuff” in Perth, Colman, whose last relationship ended because they were going in different directions, described his dating history as standard other than one experience where his date would not speak.
“I wouldn’t say it was bad but I did go on a date where the girl didn’t say diddly squat all day,” he said. But I’ve had a couple of cool ones and of course with Sophie.”
With the intruders upping the ante last week, Colman said viewers saw winemaker and favourite to win Monk’s heart Jarrod Woodgate marking his territory.
“Everyone knows about one of the intruders but just watching them get out of the helicopter and listening to us rip shreds off them,” he said.
“It was funny, we were like ‘Jarrod go to the front’, we put him in charge. Hats off to him, as much as we give him heaps on the show and he’s a bit crazy, he had the first date and that’s hard.
“He has to watch potentially 15 guys going on dates with her, he’s had it the hardest.”
As for his current love life, Colman is not giving too much away.
