Bren­nan a cut above

BASSENDEAN’S Bren­nan Robert­son was named WA ap­pren­tice of the year at the Aus­tralian Meat In­dus­try Awards for Ex­cel­lence pre­sen­ta­tion din­ner last month.

Torre and Mor­dini Gourmet Meats’ mas­ter butcher Lee Riskas said Mr Robert­son had been work­ing at the Dun­craig butch­ery for al­most three years.

“We think he is an ex­cel­lent ap­pren­tice,” he said.

“He is an out­stand­ing young man and a plea­sure to work with, very well re­spected with his work­mates.”

Mr Robert­son took part in the WA Ap­pren­tice of the Year Com­pe­ti­tion in Septem­ber, when he had to pre­pare a car­cass of lamb, an­swer ques­tions and pre­pare meat from a mys­tery box into saleable cuts.

He will travel to Vic­to­ria next year to rep­re­sent WA in the na­tional com­pe­ti­tion.
