The Internet Archive www.bit.ly/netarchive The Internet Archive has bolstered its collection of classic games with over 2,000 MS-DOS titles, offering them in playable form by making use of an in-browser emulator called EM-DOSBOX (written by curator Jason Scott Sadofsky). Old PC games are certainly a better fit for browser play than the 900 or so coin-op games the archive put online last year, but the collection stretches to console ports such as Disney’s Aladdin and MetalGear, too. It’s an eclectic selection, and the emulator’s beta status means not everything works, but even so there is lots to dig out, including the likes of SimAnt, ZakMcKrackenAnd The Alien Mindbenders, and, um, Sex Vixens From Space, each game coming with bulletpointed info and a description. We’re going to settle in for a session of Catacomb3-D.
