The Rev­o­lu­tion has been far more eclec­tic. “I read the Coun­terin­sur­gency Field Man­ual,” says Ker­sh­ner, “which is a US Army doc­trine pub­li­ca­tion – very, very dry; kind of bor­ing. But it was re­ally in­ter­est­ing, for the game’s oc­cu­pa­tion force, to get in the mind­set of work­ing with crowd con­trol, and deal­ing with a civil­ian pop­u­la­tion and an in­sur­gency.”
