From its sun-dappled introduction where an adorable little moppet bonds with a Totoro-esque guardian, Ori has the look of a sweet, pastoral Ghibli film, full of cheerful, light-hearted whimsy. Its difficulty curve, however, is more reminiscent of Hidetaka Miyazaki than Hayao, with checkpoint-free runs through gauntlets of spikes, and three elemental pursuits in particular proving as tough to beat as any of Yharnam’s bestiary.
