Mike Wilson’s career in game publishing began at Id Software in 1996, where he embarked on a mission to carve out a bigger slice of the revenue pie for the Doom studio. He subsequently left Id to join John Romero and Tom Hall at Ion Storm, where he served as CEO. In 1998, Wilson headed up the creation of Gathering Of Developers (later known as God Games), which published a string of hits, mostly on PC, including Mafia and Serious Sam. Following an experimental DVD project came a stint at Take-Two and then the formation of Gamecock, before the introduction of Devolver Digital in 2008. Today the company focuses on game publishing as well as independent film distribution.
