Mod­ern tech­nol­ogy has un­doubt­edly fu­elled today’s board gam­ing boom. From rapid 3D-printed pro­to­typ­ing to crowd­fund­ing plat­forms, new tools have helped pull board games from the back of cup­board and to­wards the spear­head of geek cul­ture. For Mat Hart, it’s only a good thing.

“I guess it de­pends if you’re a glass-half-full or glass-half-empty kind of a per­son,” he says of the in­flu­ence be­ing played by tech­nol­ogy nowa­days. “My glass is eter­nally half-full, so I think this tech­nol­ogy can be a won­der­ful tool for shar­ing knowl­edge, ideas, ex­pe­ri­ences and ex­cite­ment. It’s a nice mech­a­nism for peo­ple like my­self to get a mes­sage out to peo­ple, as we’ve done with Dark Souls.”
