Pe­ri­od­i­cally, the boy will stum­ble across glow­ing hel­mets that al­low him to guide the other­wise im­mo­bile avatars in the back­ground. As the boy flails a lit­tle way off the ground, you es­sen­tially as­sume con­trol of these brain­washed char­ac­ters, guid­ing them to push or pull ob­jects. It’s a clever twist that al­lows PlayDead to vary what might other­wise be repet­i­tive en­vi­ron­men­tal puz­zles, even­tu­ally lead­ing to a stir­ring se­quence where they’re able to as­sist you more di­rectly.
