Wait, come back! Im­prob­a­ble is it may seem, this one might ac­tu­ally be OK. Sega has fi­nally re­alised it is no longer the safest pair of hands for its own mas­cot. At the helm of Son­icMa­nia is Chris­tian White­head, an Aus­tralian devel­oper be­hind hobbyist, and then of­fi­cial, mo­bile ports of the first two Son­ics; his LA-based col­lab­o­ra­tor Head­can­non; and Port­land stu­dio Pago­daWest, devel­oper of the thor­oughly Sonic- like Ma­jorMag­net. Mania stitches to­gether re­designed lev­els from the first three Sonic games with some brand-new cre­ations. Se­ries fans are a for­giv­ing bunch, but for once their op­ti­mism ap­pears jus­ti­fied.
