Beat sneak-branded


While Lit­tle Night­mares, in its Hunger form, was an­nounced in 2014, the idea has been in de­vel­op­ment for much longer. An ear­lier, sub­se­quently can­celled, project called City Of

Metronome was re­vealed at E3 2005 and fea­tured many of the same themes. Set in a night-shrouded city filled with lon­garmed, big-nosed crea­tures and mon­sters that lurked in the shad­ows, it ex­hib­ited a sim­i­lar pen­chant for child­like ex­ag­ger­a­tions of fright­en­ing ideas. Its dark tone was less stylishly re­alised, but a cen­tral me­chanic that in­volved record­ing and play­ing back sounds in the en­vi­ron­ment to progress re­mains an in­trigu­ing prospect. On its web­site, Tar­sier hints we may not have seen the last of City Of Metronome.
