CARDIE BE

Take note: the button-down knit is no longer just for nanna

ELLE (Australia) - - Contents -

Take notes from your nanna and put this piece on high rotation.

After years scaling your knitwear pile, the humble, cuddly cardigan has been crowned a new-season statement piece. Feminist labels like Prada and Marni are longtime cardie champions (it’s the unofficial symbol of the women’s movement) and with its go-anywhere versatility, it’s little wonder. Go large with a chunky Diy-style knit or go minimal with a super-fine ribbed version. Wear it all buttoned up, tucked into trousers and layered under coats. Or style it in a way that would make your granny proud: over a floaty dress when it’s not quite jacket weather but there’s still a chill in the air.
