No truck with ap­pli­ca­tion

BULLSBROOK res­i­dents are cel­e­brat­ing af­ter the City of Swan re­fused a de­vel­op­ment ap­pli­ca­tion for ‘site re­me­di­a­tion – ex­trac­tive in­dus­try’ on Chit­ter­ing Road.

More than 100 res­i­dents sent ob­jec­tions to the coun­cil af­ter learn­ing the site, an in­ac­tive quarry, would be used for land­fill and at­tract 80 truck move­ments per day.

Act­ing chief ex­ec­u­tive Mark Bishop said plan­ning of­fi­cers came to the de­ci­sion last week af­ter the story in The Ad­vo­cate went to print.

“The de­vel­op­ment ap­pli­ca­tion was re­fused un­der del­e­gated author­ity on Septem­ber 13,” he said.

“The land use pro­posed was not per­mit­ted un­der the City’s Lo­cal Plan­ning Scheme No.17.”

How­ever, Mr Bishop said the ap­pli­cant, WA Tim­ber Sup­plies, might be able to take the case to the State Ad­min­is­tra­tive Tri­bunal.

“The ap­pli­cant may have a right of ap­peal to SAT, in­clu­sive of a ca­pac­ity to amend the ap­pli­ca­tion so that it may be ca­pa­ble of ap­proval.”

Mr Bishop also urged res­i­dents with queries or con­tentions re­gard­ing de­vel­op­ment ap­pli­ca­tions to con­tact the City of Swan di­rect.

“Res­i­dents wish­ing to com­ment on any of the pro­pos­als ad­ver­tised on the web­site may do so in writ­ing on or be­fore the nom­i­nated clos­ing date,” he said.

“All sub­mis­sions will be con­sid­ered as part of the ap­pli­ca­tion.

“Those who have made sub­mis­sions will be no­ti­fied of any progress.”
