Locals attend Metronet transport forum

Ellenbrook Advocate - - NEWS -

MORE than 40 locals recently attended a community public transport forum in Ellenbrook.

The forum was part of a second round of community consultations to hear from local residents about what they want from Labor’s Metronet policy, following earlier consultations in April.

The meeting was hosted by Swan Hills Labor candidate Jessica Shaw, who expanded on the topics discussed at the April forum.

Topics included east-west bus services to Joondalup and links to other modes of transport; the format for bus services between Ellenbrook, Aveley, The Vines, Belhus and Upper Swan; and the location, facilities and surrounding development of the train station site.

Ellenbrook resident Rob Watson said some good points were raised.

He said it was good to hear what people had to say, seeing how it was going to affect the community and what it is going to mean for his children as they start to grow up in the area. Some members of the local community who were at the forum.

“We can start trying to plan as parents whether we want to stay in the area, (and if so) how we can actually make their lives a lot better within the community.”
