Vol­un­teer fire­fight­ers ex­ceed ex­pec­ta­tions

BULLSBROOK Vol­un­teer Fire and Emer­gency Service mem­ber Adrian Goh is a fi­nal­ist for the 2017 Fire­fight­ing Awards this weekend.

He is one of three fi­nal­ists for the vol­un­teer fire and emer­gency ser­vices cat­e­gory, while Gin­gin Vol­un­teer Fire and Res­cue Service mem­ber Nikki Woods is a fi­nal­ist for the vol­un­teer fire and res­cue service cat­e­gory.

Dar­ling Range Bush Fire Brigade’s John Ed­ward Duff is a fi­nal­ist for the Mur­ray Lang Bush Fire Service of WA award.

Depart­ment of Fire and Emer­gency Ser­vices com­mis­sioner Wayne Greg­son said the awards hon­oured in­di­vid­u­als and groups who had shown ded­i­ca­tion to duty be­yond ex­pec­ta­tions.

Win­ners will be an­nounced on Sun­day, Septem­ber 10 dur­ing the WA Fire and Emer­gency Ser­vices

Con­fer­ence at the Perth Con­ven­tion and Ex­hi­bi­tion Cen­tre.

DFES will also present the Vol­un­teer Ma­rine Res­cue Ser­vices Awards on Satur­day, Septem­ber 9 dur­ing the three-day con­fer­ence.

Lancelin Vol­un­teer Ma­rine Res­cue Group is a fi­nal­ist for the award for youth achieve­ment or con­tri­bu­tion to youth devel­op­ment.

Jurien Bay VMR’s Chris­tine Heu is also a fi­nal­ist for the out­stand­ing in­di­vid­ual con­tri­bu­tion cat­e­gory.
