Midland line shutdown
MIDLAND rail passengers are urged to plan ahead for a fourday shutdown of the line.
Buses will replace train services from the evening of September 21 to the start of services on September 26.
Transperth spokesman David Hynes said the disruption would enable work on the $25 million East Perth station upgrade to begin.
He said the major works could not be completed without a full-line shutdown and power switch off.
“The closure has been scheduled to minimise disruption to passengers and will run over the Queen’s Birthday public holiday weekend, so that weekday peak-hour commuters are minimally affected,” he said.
“While this line closure will occur during the first three days of the Perth Royal Show, only the Midland line will be impacted.”
Mr Hynes said more replacement buses would cater for show passengers.
