Perfect day for jazz and teddy bears

Ellenbrook Advocate - - NEWS -

GUILDFORD will come alive with music next month as the Guildford Jazz Festival and Entwined in the Valley begins.

There is something for the whole family, including the little ones, with the inaugural Teddy Bear’s Picnic to be held at Wesley Chapel and Gardens.

The event will include a jazz concert by well-known band Zazou inside the chapel and a afternoon picnic outside in the garden area.

Festival co-ordinator Sue Thompson said the picnic was a chance to share beautiful music and bring people into Guildford.

“We’re hoping to get people to visit Guildford and appreciate the heritage value of this area, especially Wesley Chapel, which is over 160 years old,” she said.

“It’s the first time we’ve had the teddy bear’s picnic and the reason we decided to start it is traditional jazz is linked to teddy bears and there’s even a jazz song called Teddy Bear’s Picnic.”

The picnic is free, with families encouraged to bring blankets and chairs on the day, with drinks and picnic hampers available for purchase to support the restoration of the chapel.

The Teddy Bear’s Picnic will run from 3pm to 5pm on October 14 at Wesley Chapel and Gardens in Guildford.
