Entwined in valley life

Ellenbrook Advocate - - NEWS - Belinda Cipriano

ARTIST Jude Taylor is one of four Swan Valley locals to lend their voices as part of the Meet the Maker ambassador roles for food and wine festival Entwined in the Valley next month.

Taylor, whose family runs the iconic Taylor’s Art and Coffee House and has called the valley home for almost 40 years, exhibiting her vibrant pieces in the cafe’s art house, said she was honoured to be one of this year’s ambassadors.

“People love coming here; there’s a great sense of following,” she said.

“We work as a family which involves dealing with each others’ personalities. We are all quite individual.

“The big thing about the valley is we all use our land, our home, to create wonderful things for the people of Perth.

“We worked hard to save the valley for the people of Perth and we do use the space we have here to create something special for Perth.”

Inspired by WA wildflowers and landscape, Taylor’s pieces include fabric, steel gates and lamps and other mediums.

“The WA landscape and wildflowers inspire me because of their wonderful space and light,” she said.

“I believe that our wildflowers are a great heritage and I wish for more people to celebrate them.

“Meet the Maker is a great theme for the Entwined festival, because that’s often what you’re doing whenever you go to the valley.

“The people serving you are very often the people who’ve crafted and created what you’re buying.”

Taylor joins chef Michael Hartnell, winemaker James Talijancich and grape grower and producer Marlene Katich as ambassadors for Entwined, which will see more than 60 individual events take place throughout the Valley from October 12-15.
