Thomas fights hard at Hill

WIL­LET­TON con­tin­ued its dom­i­nance against Mid­land Guild­ford through­out day 2 of its two-day clash, cul­mi­nat­ing in a com­fort­able nine-wicket win at Lilac Hill on Satur­day af­ter­noon.

En­ter­ing the day at 270, Wil­let­ton pushed hard for the re­main­der of its first in­nings, even­tu­ally declar­ing at 9-200 af­ter Kallen Bond (50) and cap­tain Matthew John­ston (45) at­tacked through­out.

Af­ter be­ing sent back in to bat, Mid­land Guild­ford strug­gled to reach Wil­let­ton’s first-in­nings to­tal, as Matt Hanna con­tin­ued his dom­i­na­tion with the ball from day 1.

The only re­sis­tance for Mid­land Guild­ford came from Austin Thomas, who scored a hard-fought 45 and Keaton Critchell, who man­aged 31 be­fore be­ing bowled by Matthew John­ston.

Hanna took out the tail-en­ders, fin­ish­ing with bril­liant fig­ures of 7-44 and keep­ing the op­po­si­tion to 148.

With the small to­tal of 55 to chase down, Wil­let­ton hit the win­ning runs in the 13th over.
