Shabbi in element
CHITTERING artist Sharon ‘Shabbi’ Phelps will partner with Kirsty Watkins in a raw art exhibition showcasing WA elements.
CHITTERING artist Sharon Phelps will showcase her organic art in Fremantle next week at Kidogo Arthouse.
The artist, also known as Shabbi, will be partnering with long-term friend and Bicton artist Kirsty Watkins in the exhibition Elements, with the two artists bringing together fire, water and earth to create a series of stunning pieces of work.
Phelps, who is known for her eclectic range of work, will showcase 23 ceramics and eight paintings. She said her work was about using natural finishes.
“My pots are very natural; I use seaweed, horse hair and salt to bake the pots,” she said.
“They are very much the earth and fire of the exhibition.”
Watkins will display 18 acrylic paintings, with her inspiration the beautiful WA coastline.
Elements will run from November 16 to 23, 11am until 4pm daily.
