MIDDLE Swan artist Ron Gomboc has showcased his 18th sculpture at Bondi’s Sculpture by the Sea this week.
The owner of Gomboc Gallery Sculpture Park first exhibited his work after being awarded a spot in the 1999 exhibition.
He said his work since then had evolved but had always been about telling a story.
“It’s amazing how quick time has gone by since my first Sculpture by the Sea,” he said.
“Most of my work represents relationships, the cycle of life and human condition.
“This sculpture is more abstract than my normal work and represents two figures embracing and an arch in the middle of what keeps us separate and together, and the physical and spiritual building of a relationship.”
Gomboc has also been invited to exhibit at next year’s Cottesloe Sculpture by the Sea and would be the only Australian artist who had exhibited at every exhibition since it started.
Work by Ron Gomboc can be viewed at Gomboc Gallery Sculpture Park on James Road in Middle Swan.
