MORE than 5000 people packed Edmonds Place Reserve in Chittering recently to celebrate a true Aussie winter and a day of muddy madness for the event Wear Ya Wellies.

A mini mud run, hay mud maze, toddler mud pit and welly tossing competition kept people of all ages entertained.

Shire of Chittering community development officer Alison Reliti said the day was a huge success.

“This is the fifth year we’ve held Wear Ya Wellies and we are amazed at how the crowd grows each year,” she said.

“With help from our local volunteers and generous sponsors, we look forward to making the event bigger and muddier in the years to come.

“We love providing kids with the opportunity to get messy and experience the fun of mud and nature.”

Chittering Landcare were on hand at the event to teach kids about the natural environment, while children also got to enjoy face painting, tattoos and arts and craft activities.
