THE Ellen Brook Bridge, which will link Ellenbrook to Upper Swan, has been officially opened.

The $6.1 million bridge on Railway Parade north of Apple Street took eight months to complete and is expected to be a key transport link for residents in the region.

The bridge was opened by Swan Mayor David Lucas and Pearce MHR Christian Porter in a ceremony last Friday, along with councillors from the City. Cr Lucas congratulated everyone involved in the project.

“The Federal Government contributed $3 million and this is an excellent example of what can be achieved through collaboration,” he said.

The bridge will also create an alternate access point during emergency situations such as bushfires.

Mr Porter said the bridge would provide an essential link between the fast-growing residential areas to the south of Ellen Brook and increasing employment areas to the north.

City of Swan councillors Patty Williams and Kevin Bailey with Pearce MHR Christian Porter, Mayor David Lucas and councillor Cate McCullough cutting the ribbon on Ellen Brook Bridge to mark its official opening.
