Bookshop accepting donations for appeal

Euroa Gazette - - NEWS -

THE Already Read Bookshop is once again collecting donations of non-perishable food on behalf of the St Vinnie’s this Christmas.

Already Read’s Jill Wright encouraged people to dig deep to help make this Christmas an enjoyable time for all in the community.

“At this time of the year many local families and individuals (through no fault of their own) are suffering hardship,” Ms Wright said.

The bookshop will also be accepting donations under their tree for local pets, the proceeds of which we give to the Shepparton Animal Rescue- an organisation run entirely by volunteers.

Within a few days of running the drive last year, Already Read said they had been given ‘boxes and boxes of pet food’, with pet donations out-pacing those for humans.

“Last year we had two ladies that went over to Burton’s and bought four shopping bags full of pet food because they just loved the idea,” employees told the

“The pets do really well, and they do have a happy Christmas. “They get toys as well, which is just great. “We usually receive many boxes worth of donations at the shop.

“The people of this community are more than just good; they are very, very generous.”

All donations will be sent on to St Vinnie’s in Shepparton for distribution to those in need, with many donated items ending up back in the local area.

“We thank you in advance for caring, because no one wants to fall on hard times,” Ms Wright said.
