Euroa Gazette - - DISTRICT NEWS - By ELLEN DOYLE

THERE was standing room only on Christmas Eve at St John’s Church, Euroa where we celebrated Jesus’ birth.

A number of well known Christmas Carols were sung, led by Sr Bernadine Kelly, Julie O’Brien played her violin and Yvonne Carr on the organ and piano. The music and singing was beautiful. Fr Tony Hill had arranged the Christmas Carols leaflet so all present could join in the singing. Carols sung included “The First Nowell”, “Gloria in excelsis Deo”, “Hark! The herald angels sing”, “Watching and waiting”, “What child is this” and “Once in Royal David’s City”.

After the Carol singing, Christmas Eve Mass was celebrated by Fr Tony Hill during which the child Jesus was laid in the manager.

SONGS OF JOY: Julie O’Brien leads the congregation on the violin while Sr Bernadine Kelly sings along and Yvonne Carr plays the piano in the background.
