Dookie holds but Euroa aims for win

ON Satur­day, Jan­uary 7, the Euroa Cricket Club E grade team recom­menced the new year games with a match against Dookie at the Friendlies Ground in Euroa.

This was the first of a two game match so when Euroa won the toss, they opted to bat as the day was shap­ing up to be a scorcher.

The team wel­comed Rowan Craven and Nick Brodie who were hav­ing their first game of the sea­son with E grade.

There were a num­ber of note­wor­thy per­for­mances from Nick Brodie, 87, Mitchell Grant, 46*, Jar­rad Mil­lar, 27 and Lach­lan Hill, 19.

In ad­di­tion some of the part­ner­ships re­ally worked, with By­ron Craven and Nick Brodie adding 58 to the to­tal to­gether and Mitchell Grant and Lach­lan Hill mak­ing 45.

With the score at 8/223 (off 64 overs), E grade de­clared in the hope of tak­ing some Dookie wick­ets be­fore close of play.

Not all went as planned with even­tu­ally Dookie at 1/37 af­ter 10 overs.

E grade are now fo­cus­ing on re­turn­ing to the Friendlies next Satur­day, to make this a win­ner.

SOLID CON­TRI­BU­TION: Nick Brodie per­formed very well on Satur­day, adding 87 to the Euroa E grade to­tal.

TEST­ING TIME AT THE CREASE: Mitchell Grant is kept on his toes against Dookie but even­tu­ally con­trib­uted a com­mend­able 46*.
