Marcello Mercuri looks down field for a lead during Euroa’s under 12 match against Wandong.

IT was a different looking side this week with some players out with camp duties and some others still injured from last week’s game.

The ground was looking good given the rain that Euroa had had during the week and although it was a bit cold on the sidelines, the weather gods were shining on the team again.

It was a tight affair to start the game with no side able to break through with the opening score.

Strong work in the middle from Squeak, Tal, and Dub got the ball forward to Chello who registered the team first through the big sticks.

One more from Chello and another from Oscar Groves had the Pies up at the first break.

Wandong came out with plenty of fire in the second quarter and were putting heaps of pressure on the back six.

Eddy Tilton and Caid Miller did a fantastic job of keeping them at bay.

Several missed opportunities in front of goal for the Pies had Wandong back in the game at half time.

Half time score: Euroa 4.4.26; Wandong 2.1.13.

It was a strong team effort to start the third, and thanks to a lucky bounce, Caid Miller put one through the big sticks.

Euroa’s mids were starting to get on top from the stoppages but it was Will Smyth who was having a blinder, to boot three from long range for the term.

The final term was a continuation of the previous three.

Ultimately it was a great team effort from full back to full forward.

The Pies finished up the game singing the song and continuing their march to the finals - go Pies.
