Magpies hold second spot
AFTER a run of wins by significant margins, the Euroa supporters were expecting this game to be a more even contest against their opposition who were sitting second on the ladder.
Although the Shepparton side came out to match the Euroa team at the contest, the Euroa reserves were able to settle into the game and take control of the ball hitting the scoreboard during the first quarter with four goals.
They held the Shepparton team goalless and continued through the game to come away with another comfortable winning margin.
With a good mix of players across the ground, the team was very strong with a number of senior players amongst the group trying to impress the selectors as well as a number of young players striving to continue their good form and win a run in the senior team.
Jack Broughton continued on with his good form playing hard contested footy as well as giving good run out of the backline.
Craig Bamford was able to gain many possessions during the game with his football smarts setting up many opportunities for the team.
Ben Hayes, coming back from a number of games in the seniors, was also a good contributor with strong run through the midfield and hard contest at the ball.
Nick Johnson, returning to the team after a break, was solid across the halfback line with many clearances of the ball in defence into our forward line.
Matthew Hess as always was a strong contributor to the team.
His presence at the stoppages and ability to win the ball is very important to the team.
Haedyn Saville was again good with his run and carry over the ground making him one of the better players.
The team again put together good passages of play but on occasions tended to butcher the ball by foot.
This is something the team need to improve on as they move into the important part of the season.
