Banks swell at Sevens Creek

Euroa Gazette - - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR -

HEAVY and persistent rain in recent days swelled the banks of the Sevens Creek in Euroa on Monday.

After more than 100mm fell in the space of four days over both the Sevens and Castle Creek catchments, resulting in the SES issuing a minor flood warning as the Sevens reached nearly three metres in town.

While the floodwaters did not reach major heights, the volume of rain was enough for emergency services to warn locals to remain alert and continue to monitor water levels.

The SES also took the opportunity presented by a relatively minor flooding event to reiterate the importance of flood safety, and remind people that they should never drive, walk or ride through floodwater.
