Yea maintains lead in a dominant display in under 12s

Euroa Gazette - - SPORTS - By ADAM PALMER

SO, the big goal of winning a premiership in 2017 came to a grinding halt on Sunday, August 13 as Tabilk went down by 25 points to Yea.

As the siren sounded to end the game, Yea were simply too strong on the day.

They had more winners around the ground and applied enormous pressure onto the team when they had the ball.

Although the team tried hard, they had too many players who have down days, and to win games of finals you need a total team effort.

I thought Tabilk’s on-ballers Angus Murray, Nathan Whitling and Kane Chaplan tried hard all day and Finbar O’Sullivan was busy on his wing.

Harry Wall, Blake Ezard and Jack Beresford were other players who played well.

Looking back on the year, the biggest positive was the improvement in the group overall with the results in the second half of the season being proof of this.

The under 12s became a tougher, stronger team and a team that was able to move the ball with better efficiency and flow.

As the coach, I am super proud of the team’s efforts, highlighted by a big win against Yea at home, and a narrow defeat at the hands of St Mary’s at Seymour just a few weeks ago.

Gee, I’d reckon the team would love another crack at St Mary’s.

The team was an absolute pleasure to coach and their eagerness to play, learn and improve as individuals and as a team will mean they will only just keep improving.

They really are a terrific bunch of kids and as parents you should be super proud of their efforts and achievements this year.

A big thanks to all the parents who helped throughout the year.

At training I was lucky to have help from Wes Shelton, Ian Shiner, Rick Shiner, Kevin Lindner and Jake Wall.

It really does help enormously to have extra help at training and the kids simply train better if there is another voice providing guidance and encouragement.

On match day thanks to Narelle Shelton who did a super job as first aid trainer, and to Scott Reid, John Beresford, Tim Ledeux and others who were there for support.

And of course last but not least, a big thanks to Dan for being the team manager.

The ‘Presentation Night’ will be held on Sunday, August 27, at 4pm

Tabilk are looking forward to getting together on Sunday, August 27 for Tabilk’s presentation night.

It will commence at 4pm and will be held at Nagambie clubrooms.

It was great to see our under 14s go straight through to the grand final to be played at Euroa in two weeks’ time.

It would be great as many of you can get down to support the under 14s on August 27. Final score: Yea 5.4.34; Tabilk 1.3.9 Best: Angus Murray, Finbar O’Sullivan, Nathan Whitling, Kane Chaplan, Blake Ezard, Harry Wall, and Jack Beresford.

Goals: Will Ledeux 1.
