Down to the skin and bones

SHEPPARTON Theatre Arts Group is baring all in its next production Calendar Girls.

To celebrate, the theatre group have created the Not Naked, Nude Calendar Girls Commemorative 2018 Calendar and plan to donate $5 from every calendar sold to the Leukaemia Foundation.

Cast member Anne Bowan, plays Lady Cravenshire in the production and recently took her clothes off for the charity calendar “I’ve never got my gear off for anything like that but it was a great experience, I enjoyed the day and I think everyone else did too,” she said.

Although Ms Bowans character does not de-robe in the show she was only too happy to make an exception for the calendar and pose for June and a cast group shot for December.

“I’m 76, my body has got me this far and I’m proud of it,” she said.

Based on the true story of eleven WI members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund, Calendar Girls is sure to make you laugh and cry.

When Annie’s husband John dies of leukaemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow WI members to pose nude with them for an “alternative” calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence.

The news of the women’s charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales.

The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found fame. Calendar Girls features the talents of Robyn Banfield, Fiona Wallace, Tricia Baggs, Fiona Kennan, Wendy Russell, Carol Davidson, Melanie Matthews, John Lewis, John Head, AaronDavid Palmer, Anne Bowen, Gemma Marchant, Troy McKindley and Wendy Platt.
