Ryan advocated for funding

Euroa Gazette - - NEWS -

I WRITE in response to the letter from David Baker ( The Euroa Gazette, August 22). I can understand Mr Baker’s cynicism. It is no secret that the North East line has been plagued with problems for years, through successive governments.

As for my own track record (pardon the pun) I fought for an investment into the track from the Federal Coalition Government and I am proud of the $140 million we have secured for the line.

In opposition, I do not hold the purse strings but I can advocate for the needs in my electorate to the current Andrew Labor Government who have shown little interest in public trans- port outside of Melbourne.

Premier Daniel Andrews said he would provide trains for the north east line if the Federal Government fixed the track.

We’ve got the money from the Federal Government but Daniel Andrews seems to have forgotten his end of the bargain.

Steph Ryan (MLA, Euroa)
