Avenel Hall up­grade pro­gresses

AVENEL Hall is cur­rently un­der­go­ing a $400,000 ren­o­va­tion, with three new meet­ing rooms and a new re­hearsal and craft room mak­ing for a greatly im­proved com­mu­nity build­ing for the town.

The main hall will also be fit­ted with a new ceil­ing, and the rest of the fa­cil­ity will be re­painted and the toi­let fa­cil­i­ties re­newed.

The project is thanks to a $300,000 grant from the State Gov­ern­ment’s Re­gional Jobs and In­fra­struc­ture Fund and a con­tri­bu­tion of $100,000 from the Shire of Strath­bo­gie.

To ser­vice the ex­pected in­crease in us­age once com­plete, coun­cil has also funded a new foot­path in­dent at the front of the build­ing and the carpark will be re­sealed as part of the 2016/17 Cap­i­tal Works Program, val­ued at $36,000.

All build­ing work has been un­der­taken by Daniel Duna Con­struc­tions of Sey­mour, and the ren­o­va­tions are ex­pected to be com­plete by Novem­ber this year.
