EUROA GOLF CLUB
ON AFL Grand Final day, as Richmond demolished the Adelaide Crows at the MCG, recently re-joined member Dav Mackrell (24) demolished the field at the Euroa Golf Club with a scintillating stableford round of 42 points to take out division two.
Josh Bell (4) took out division one with a very solid 38 points with many of the field of 28 golfers hitting the course early before retiring for the day to watch the Grand Final.
It turns out that the crafty crow near the clubhouse wasn’t an omen for the Grand Final but golfers be warned, it’s still there, at the ready to grab any tasty morsel in its beak that it can find in golfers carts while they putt out on the 9th green.
Wednesday golf was changed from the 4BBB listed in the golfing program to the usual stableford round with 33 golfers making up the field on a fairly windy day.
Eric Sellenger (17) took out division one with a good 37 points and Wally Sinclair (26) took out division two with a very good 40 points.
As the Spring Tournament approaches, the course is coming up really well.
The fairways are well grassed and the greens are recovering really well after their coring at the start of September thanks to the efforts of greens keeper Matt Eddy and his right hand man Neil Sanders.
The Spring Tournament is on this weekend and there are still places in all events.
Friday, October 6 is the Mixed Pinehurst sponsored by Euroa HealthSave Pharmacy with assembly at 11:30am for a midday multi-tee (shotgun) start and we have enough entries for this event to go ahead.
Local pairs please bring a plate for afternoon tea.
Saturday, October 7 is Men’s 4BBB Par and Ladies’ 4BBB Par sponsored by Burtons IGA Store with tee-off times from 8 to 9am and 11:15am to 1pm. The cost is $30 per team. We are getting a lot of green fee players out on the course and the club appreciates the payment of green fees as this money all goes towards maintaining the course in such good condition.
The course is looking quite spectacular at this time of year and as little known golfing philosopher Dave Sumphin notes: “A tree is a thing of beauty unless your golf ball is under it.” We have a lot of beauty out there. Results: Wednesday, September 27 was a stableford event with 33 players.
