Euroa goes down to Terip Terip
TERIP Terip were simply too good for Euroa Purple in the Euroa District Winter Tennis Competition grand final held last week.
Played in warm but windy conditions at Euroa, Terip got off to a good start winning the first set 8- 2 and narrowly losing the second in a tie break.
The second set saw them win 8-1 and 8-2, while the final pairings were much closer.
Terip won these 8-6 and 8-7; this time taking the tie break to win five sets to one, and 47 games to 26.
Many supporters watched on and enjoyed the celebrations after.
It had been a successful season with many players taking to the court and much tennis being played throughout the colder winter months.
ON Sunday, 27 bowlers travelled to Bright for the annual Euroa versus Bright bowls match.
This event first started in 1898 then was abandoned for a great number of years during the world wars and other times then restarted in 1995 and has been an annual tussle ever since.
As there were more Euroa bowlers than Bright members, several Euroa members played in teams representing Bright.
But these were not tallied up as after only one game was played, the weather man interrupted the games with a heavy shower of rain.
Scores from the game played ended with Bright winning with 59 to Euroa 35, thus they retained the trophy.
A delicious barbeque and salad lunch plus sweets preceded the game and afternoon tea was taken early before the presentations.
